The Statute of the Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics SMBI as adopted on February 10th, 2006

 

 I. DESIGNATION, OBJECTIVES AND INCORPORTION:


ARTICLE 1:

On February 10th, 2006, and by virtue of the Sherifian Dahir 1-58-376 issued on Joumada 3rd,(corresponding to November 15th, 1958) which regulates the Law of association and by virtue of other laws in force, a society under the name of Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics was established and abbreviated thereof as SMBI.

ARTICLE 2:

The objectives of the Society include:

a- Establishing and promoting scientific and pedagogic relations and exchange between its members.

 b- Contributing to the teaching and scientific research.

c- Helping in the circulation of the research results at the national and international level by means of possible periodical publications.

d- Organising meetings and scientific workshops.

e- Establishing cooperative relations with other associations.

ARTICLE 3:

The Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics is a society established for unlimited time.

ARTICLE 4:

The Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics may affiliate to any other association sharing the same goals, and may undertake twinning with similar associations outside Morocco. It may also organise and participate in conferences.

ARTICLE 5:
 

The Principle office of the “Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics is located at the National School of Applied Sciences in Tangier: POB 1818, Tangier princiaple. Morocco. It may however be moved elsewhere providing that the decision is made by the General Meeting.

ARTICLE 6:

a)  Membership:

- Active Membership: shall be given to researchers, research professors, computer scientists, mathematicians, physicians, biochemists, chemists and biologists engaged in activities related to Bioinformatics.

- Honour Membership: shall be given by the board of directors to any Natural or Moral person who has done, or may do a service to the Society.

 - Associate Membership: may be given by the board of directors to any person whose profession lies not under the category of Active Membership.

b)  Membership cancellation: the membership shall be cancelled by:

- Written resignation addressed to the President of the Society.

- Failure to pay Membership fees.

- Being crossed off by the Board of Directors due to a serious deed.

ARTICLE 7:

The Society principle bodies include:

a) The General Meeting: consist of all active membership holders, and shall be convened by the Board of Directors.

b) The Board of Directors:  shall run the association and decide on new membership applications. It is responsible before the General Meeting.

c) Special Committee: is established by the board of directors when need be.

d) Correspondents inside and outside Morocco.
