History of the Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics (SMBI)
The Moroccan Society of Bioinformatics SMBI was established on February 10th, 2006 under the regulations of the law issued on July 1st, 1901 and by virtue of the decree of August 6th, 1901.
It was established to strengthen the promotion of Academic research and multidisciplinary approach to teaching and organizing activities on Bioinformatics.
The Society was established at the National school of Applied Sciences in Tangier, Morocco. (Ecole National Des Sciences Appliqués B.P. 1818, Tanger principale, Morocco).
The Membership of the Society is of three categories:
Active membership: given to researchers, research professors, computer scientists, mathematicians, physicians, biochemists, chemists and biologists engaged in activities related to Bioinformatics.
Honour membership: given by the board of directors to any Natural or Moral person who has done, or may do a service to the Society.
Associate membership: can be given by the board of directors to any person whose profession lies not within the category of 'Active membership.
